What a superb couple of days in Cherbourg test sailing Allures and Garcia blue water cruising yachts, showing off their super strong and elegant aluminium hulls and performance with centreboard/lifting keels.

Great weather perfect amount of wind and a gathering of over 60 clients wanting to test sail a variety of the Groups models on offer, the Allures 39.9/40.9, Allures 45.9, Garcia Exploration 45 & 52 all on the water for sailing.

With so many customers each day was divided in to two, the morning groups sailing with the other receiving a very informative presentation covering the history of the group, specialist information on how the yachts are constructed, detailed cad images and drawings from the design teams on Allures and Garcia’s showing a visual break down of all aspects of the yachts construction from blast, centreboard functionality to deck or rudder structure followed by a working tour of the build facilities. Nothing short of impressive and very well organised.

In the afternoon a swap over for Groups to do the same.

Being typically French, the day involves their passion for food, a welcome breakfast and introduction a fantastic lunch at Cherbourg’s premier yacht club at the Capitanerie, Port Chantereyne for a chance to relax and chat about the yachts just test sailed or their construction.

At the end of the day, set down in the marina with great views over the full and busy pontoons ‘Gouter Normand’ a selection of Normandies Ciders and Beers with tasty treats.

But that is not all, for the evening all back again at the Yacht Club for a buffet style dinner and drinks in a great setting. Talks and presentations given by current owners past and present along with the highly respected world cruiser Jimmy Cornell delivering a fascinating talk on his Garcia Exploration 45’s trip of the North West passage, the Russian North East passage then down to Antartica for southern ocean cruising in the ice as well supported by some truly breathtaking videos.

A huge thank you to the Teams at Allures and Garcia for organising this event again, other than being back at the yacht with other clients during the rest of the year we look forward to next years event which we will be promoting during key Boatshows in 2019 finishing with Dusseldorf January 2020.
