Moody 425 – Aurora
This 1990 Moody 425 is a proven bluewater cruiser presented in excellent condition and thoughtfully upgraded for serious cruising. Designed by Bill Dixon and built to Moody’s respected standards, she delivers strength, comfort, and confidence at sea. She is lying in Leros and offered exclusively through Williams & Smithells International.
Re-powered in 2023, Aurora benefits from a Yanmar 4JH5E diesel with just 230 hours. A new shaft, propeller, and gearbox complete the installation, providing reliable and efficient performance for extended cruising.
Electrical systems were comprehensively upgraded in 2023 to support off-grid living. A 625W solar array feeds three DS LiFePO4 lithium batteries, managed through Victron monitoring. A 1600W inverter supplies dependable 220V power, while an HFL generator provides backup hot water when required.
Her cutter rig is well specified for offshore sailing. An Elvstrom mainsail from 2022 pairs with a 2017 genoa, supported by twin spinnaker poles and an adjustable backstay. This setup offers flexibility and balance across a wide range of conditions.
Below deck, the layout features two generous ensuite cabins, making her ideal for owners or long-term liveaboards. The saloon is bright and welcoming, with over 6 feet of headroom and updated upholstery completed in 2016. Domestic equipment includes dual refrigerators, a gas oven, and solar-powered 220V appliances.
On deck, the cockpit is finished in solid teak and protected by a bimini. Additional equipment includes cockpit cushions, a passerelle, and robust ground tackle. A Lofrans windlass services Delta and Fortress anchors with 75 metres of chain, ensuring confidence at anchor.
Navigation equipment is modern and reliable, with systems updated through 2024. These include autopilot, radar, GPS, and VHF, supporting safe and efficient passagemaking.
The yacht is sold with a 2025 tender and a 2022 outboard, completing a package that is genuinely ready to cruise.
