The condition or level of safety equipment on board is not to be negotiated on following survey. It is likely to be listed by most surveyors but is not structural or an integral working part of the vessel and is not to be used to further negotiate the price down after survey. We strongly suggest that for your own personal safety that when purchasing a yacht you provide new safety equipment rather than relying on second hand gear.
Should you become the new owner of this yacht then the responsibility to re-register or update official bodies for items such as EPIRB, VHF, MMSI or AIS becomes yours.

Insurance Survey 2024:All the work noted in the survey as required immediately has been done except the cabin gas tap which owner purchased and it did not fit to their satisfaction. A better one has been purchased in the UK owner will fit it when next on board. The new gas pipe has been fitted (2025)

With regard to the VAT, Blue Star was a British Police boat purchased by the Police in 1992 (along with a possible 5 others) all with VAT paid. The person the current owner purchased from was an ex policeman who was advised of this but received no paperwork to that effect. VAT was paid at purchase by the British Police and was run as a commercial business and was not a charity but no paperwork to prove this is available. Copy of VAT invoice is available.
