Owners Comments

Tartiflette is probably the best and most comprehensively equipped Beneteau 50 currently available. After her launch in May 2005 she sailed to the Mediterranean via Gibraltar and has cruised the Mediterranean and Aegean, logging some 16,000 sea miles ever since.

During the past eight years her original owners have added many sensible modifications which make Tartiflette such a practical short-handed cruising boat. Notably these include the fitting of a roller furling staysail tacked down two meters aft of the genoa. This enables progressive reefing as the wind pipes up by reducing firstly the genoa area before furling this sail completely and setting the staysail.

This flat heavier weight non over lapping sail with its long luff length in conjunction with a ½ reefed mainsail allows comfortable windward sailing in the heavier breezes experienced, notably in the Aegean. Most importantly, all this can be done without leaving the cockpit.

A further important modification has been the installation of a Lofrans Falcon windlass. This model, the most powerful in the company’s yacht range, easily handles Tartiflette’s 12mm (¾ inch) 70 meter all chain rode and heavy duty Delta bower anchor, making anchoring safe and secure.
