Just before Christmas 2020 my husband and I found the yacht of our dreams – one that was affordable to us, in superb condition and the exact make and model that we wanted.  We were so impressed with the way that Williams and Smithells handled the entire process on behalf of the seller.  Emails were responded to promptly and Mark was enormously helpful with every aspect of our purchase.

This is our first yacht and we are absolute newbies, so we really appreciated the hand-holding.  I wanted to see the actual boat before purchasing and, although it was a challenge to get from the UK to the marina in Greece, I was delighted that Williams and Smithells had a branch right there and could send somebody to introduce me to the owner and process all the paperwork.

In little over a month we went from making an offer to taking ownership of our dream yacht – all done at the height of Coronavirus; a remarkable achievement, in no small measure due to the experience and efficiency of the Williams and Smithells team.  I highly recommend them.

Seamlessly sold in difficult times

We are happy that we decided to partner with W&S and we warmly recommend them to anyone who has to go through the same process!

After decades of sunny sailing in Greece we decided that it was time to sell our boat, a 37 ft 2006 Bavaria 37 Cruiser. Unfortunately, this was in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, so we didn’t put our hopes too high.

However, only half a year later, thanks to Stephen and Mark of W&S, the complicated sale was completed fully to our satisfaction, despite the difficulties. A true international sale as well: boat in Greece, us in The Netherlands, buyer in Ireland and broker in Greece and UK.

We should like to commend Williams & Smithells for the excellent service provided

on our recent purchase of a Moody 44: in particular, Mark Ellyatt has been a boon,

keeping us informed every step of the way and always available on e-mail and by

telephone.

We should explain that the purchase was complicated by the fact that we are in Crete,

the boat was on the Greek mainland and the seller was in the UK. And, of course, the

current lockdown further complicated matters. However, the whole process was

extremely easy and, in fact, our sale was completed in little over a week.

Mark, and his colleague, Stephen McIntosh based in Greece, were (and are) both very

happy to assist us with updating existing paperwork and applying for new documents,

where required. They have also helped with the necessary arrangements for berthing,

and ensured we had the correct contacts. Their knowledge has been invaluable.

Altogether, this has been a very pleasant experience, where no detail has been

overlooked and we felt we were in safe hands all the time.

Accordingly, we have no hesitation in recommending Williams & Smithells should
